February 3, 1970 - September 28, 2021
With heavy hearts, the family of Gillian Laura Berry (née Hennig) announce her passing on September 28th, 2021 after a lengthy and arduous period of illness.
Pre-deceased by her husband Derek ("Bo") Berry (July 6th, 2020), her surviving family includes her dear parents, Carl & Joy Hennig, brother Duane (Michelle), daughter Kaitlyn (Victor), and stepchildren Tamina and Ryan.
Her wit and ready smile, dry sense of humour, knack for dramatic storytelling and kind and caring disposition will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends and acquaintances. She was a loving, loyal, and true friend, wife, sister, mother and step-mother.
Jill graduated from Columneetza Secondary School (class of '88), Blanche Macdonald Institute ('89), and the Sauder School of Business at UBC ('10). She also was a lifelong congregant of St. John Lutheran Church. Before the onset of her illness, Jill worked at RE/MAX, first as receptionist and real estate assistant to Joy and finally as a real estate agent.
Jill and her husband Derek (married August 3rd, 1996) lived on Dog Creek Road for the duration of their marriage. Many will fondly remember Jill & Derek cruising around town in their classic cars and motorcycles.
A celebration of life will be held for Jill in the springtime (TBA). The family is planning to set up a fundraiser for the Cariboo Memorial Hospital Foundation in her name. Thank you to all who provided her with care, at Cariboo Memorial and elsewhere, and special thanks also to Dr. Francina Van Der Merwe.
Some of Jill's ashes were spread from the top of Doc English Bluff west of Williams Lake. Think of her when you watch an eagle's flight, as they flew with her on that day.
