Gerald James Ford

1929 - 2011

Our Gerry passed away peacefully December 10, 2011. He was predeceased by a son Wally (1964-1984). Gerry will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by Mary, his wife

of 61 years; one daughter

Cathy (Dwain Ruckle); two sons

Ed (Bonnie) and Barry (Catharine);

four grandchildren Michael (Tari), Amanda (Rich Haughton), Ilya and Spencer; three great-grandchildren Trisana, Tasia and Lucas; one sister Velma Bogart and one brother Norman Ford (both of Wainwright, AB) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Gerry was born in Wainwright. As a young man he played hockey and baseball, was a volunteer fireman and served the communities he lived in through the Kinsmen Club who awarded him a life membership. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and water skiing. He also coached minor hockey in Vanderhoof and Williams Lake. When he got older, he took up curling and golf and was proficient at both. He was an accomplished self-taught saxophone player and played for dances in Alberta, BC and Arizona for 50 years. Most of his working years were spent in sales: lumber, life insurance and Ford vehicles.

Gerry passed away as he had lived his life, with integrity, great courage and grace and an unfailing sense of humour. A family “celebration of life” will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Mariposa Gardens who gave Gerry so much care and consideration during this stay there.
