In Loving Memory ~
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of George Biin (Darko Šranc), beloved husband, father, brother, and step-grandfather who left us in his sleep at his home in McLeese Lake, BC.
Survived by his spouse, Minnie, daughter Dianne, stepdaughter Jessie, and step-grand-children Jolene and Ryan.
Also survived by his sisters, Anitza Humar and Jersa Strmski.
George was born in Jesenice, Slovenia and moved to Canada in the 1950's after the second world war to escape communism in his home country (then called Yugoslavia). He spent time travelling across Canada before settling in the Chilcotin to be an avid sportsman and outdoorsman.
He worked for Mons Lake Ranch, then owned by the Nelson family, as a big game guide and travelled the Coast Mountain Range. George had an entrepreneurial spirit, learning various trades and artistic skills to provide for his family. One of his paintings is still displayed at Lake City Ford in Williams Lake.
George worked at the Ross Lake Sawmill and learned how to be a forester, owning a log salvage business and then learned to be a placer miner along the Likely River until his retirement.
His favourite activities involved being in the bush with his beloved dog, Mitzi, by his side. He will be missed as his stories will cease and his generous spirit moves on.
