June 29, 1939 - August 31, 2021
Gary was a kind and caring, and confident yet humble man. He was a natural born leader, who had the gift of putting people at ease. Gary was well read and well spoken, had a keen sense of humour, and was known for his quick wit and signature phrases. Gary left an indelible impact on all who knew him, and will be deeply missed.
Gary was born in Fairview, Alberta, and when he was a toddler, his family moved to British Columbia. Throughout his life, Gary gave it his all—as a family man, educational leader, marriage commissioner, or as a volunteer curling coach/official, director of the Central Cariboo Search and Rescue or through his involvement with the BC Northern Winter Games. Gary had a passion for working on the land, whether that be running a hobby farm, or helping others who shared his passion for farming or ranching.
Gary is survived by his wife Dianne E. Noort, brother Brian (Joan), children Michelle and Barry (Julia), step-children Gareth and Tricia (John), grand-children Nicole, Allan and Elizabeth; and former wife Lynda Morris.
In lieu of flowers, donations to your charity of choice may be made in Gary's name, or if you prefer, give someone a helping hand in Gary's memory. Gary was never one to pass by someone in need of support. His humility and care live on in all that we do.
