April 18, 1930 - June 15, 2018
After a long, strong and courageous battle against cancer, much beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Opa, Brother and Uncle, Friedolin Edgard Seibert best known as Fred or Freddy, of Williams Lake, BC passed away peacefully with family at his side on June 15th, 2018.

Freddy is survived by his loving wife Hulda, children Heino (Tracy), Andrea Ackroyd (John), Sue Hunt (Phil), Rick (Irene), Lore Schick (Dale) and Caroline Ashley (Chester), 14 beloved grandchildren, 6 cherished great grandchildren, loyal brothers Sieg (Christina), Al (Adele) and Karl (Reta) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his father Heinrich in 1943, mother Hilde in 1986, young son Tommy (Thomas) in 1974, sister Ninette Wolf 2010 and brother Hans earlier this year.

Of German heritage, Fred was born in Mazanaesti Romania on April 18th, 1930. From about 1940 to 1945 he was temporarily relocated, often separated from his family, to Austria and Poland then once again reunited with his family in Germany where he learned his trade before immigrating to Oliver, BC in 1952. In 1953 Fred moved to Williams Lake as a mechanic for Neufeld Brothers Auto. Over the next few years his Mother and siblings also settled in Williams Lake and in 1960 Fred brought his new bride to the Lake city to begin their family.

Fred was first and foremost a family man; his wife his greatest treasure, the grandchildren and great grandchildren his jewels. He was a founding and steadfast life long member of the William Lake St. John Lutheran Church.

Many of his working years were spent establishing, developing and constructing infrastructure throughout the Williams Lake area. Fred was also instrumental in starting the Lake Auto Racing Club. His most memorable community antic was driving a VW Bug across the waters of Williams Lake for the 1960 Aquatic Days Show.

Fred greatly enjoyed his retirement years spending time with his family, fishing the lakes of the Cariboo-Chilcotin and playing cards with his sisters-in-law.

We, the family, would like to especially thank Pastor Smith for his spiritual care, Dr Van Der Merwe of Williams Lake, Dr Rao, Dr Kim and the staff at BC Cancer Centre in Kelowna for their compassionate and giving care over the past many years and all the staff at the Deni House Palliative Care Unit for their tender and kind care in his last days.

Seine Sele geht zuruck zu Got, doch sein Herz bleit bei uns. His soul has gone to heaven, his heart stays with us.

A prayer service will be held at 7:30 pm on Sunday, June 24th at St. John Lutheran Church. Funeral service 1:00 pm on Monday, June 25th, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church with interment thereafter at Williams Lake cemetery and tea to follow at the Church hall.
