Florence Lydia Ann Nairne
Williams Lake, BC
April 15, 1937- April 8, 2010
Age 72
at Cariboo Memorial Hospital
Florence was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and moved from Vancouver to Springhouse subdivision, Williams Lake, BC in 1977 with her husband and soul mate Lee, where they fulfilled her lifelong dream of living in the country. There, she indulged her passion for gardening and the life of a farmer. Her other pastimes included friendly but highly competitive card games with friends and doing a challenging puzzle. Those who knew her can testify as to her gifts of humour and genuine friendship as well as her love for her husband and family.
A longtime survivor of Type 1 Diabetes (61 years) she succumbed to complications from the disease after a brave final battle.
Florence’s philosophy of life can be summed up by the phrase “yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a present, accept the gift and enjoy life with joy and gratefulness.”
No service of remembrance by her request. The family would like to express their great appreciation to Dr. Van Der Merwe, the staff of the Cariboo Memorial Hospital and Hospice Society and the many friends for the compassion and comfort they provided Florence, her husband and her son during her last days.
