Eric Hughes

July 19, 2016

We sadly announce the passing of Eric Hughes on July 19, 2016. Eric was born in Tonbridge Wells, England and grew up in Leeds & Liverpool.

He joined the merchant navy at the age of 16, and married Morag (Little) in 1965. Together, they emigrated to Canada in 1966, living in Edmonton, Vancouver, and Prince George before settling in Williams Lake for 29 years.

There he ran his own successful independent insurance adjusting company, Cariboo Chilcotin Claims Service. He and Morag retired to Victoria in 2000.

Eric leaves his wife Morag, daughters Erinn & Joanne (husband Troy), cherished grandchildren Chloe & Gabriel, brother Ian & family, brother-in-law Edward & family, and many dear friends in Canada & the UK.

Eric never lost his love of the sea, his very English sense of humour, and never wavered in his support of Liverpool F.C.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and care aids of 4B VGH who took such excellent care of Eric over the last few weeks, and also his faithful friend & regular visitor, Roger.

No service by request.
