After a long and happy life, Ellen passed away in Cariboo Memorial Hospital. In her final days, she was surrounded by loving family. Ellen is survived by daughters Gayle, Becky (Larry), Lynn "elle" (Sherman), son Deb (Joan), daughter-in-law Sharlene. Also left to mourn her passing, are grandsons Kyle (Faren) and Reid (Shelby) and 6 more grandchildren in the US , 13 great grandchildren and many extended family members. Ellen was predeceased by her husband Jack, son Gary and grandson Tad.
Ellen worked as an RN in Wyoming before they immigrated to BC in 1967 with the youngest two of their five children. They settled in Soda Creek where they made many good friends. In 1993, after a lifetime of ranching, they relocated to Kersley to enjoy retirement and make new friendships. After Jack's passing in 2009, Ellen moved to 150 Mile House to be closer to family.
At her request, there will be no service. Ellen will be greatly missed, but never forgotten by her family and many friends.
The family will gather in the summer to spread her ashes in Soda Creek. Sincere thanks from the family to all Ellen's caregivers over the years, especially Dr. Van der Merwe and the staff at Seniors' Village and Cariboo Memorial Hospital.
