Elizabeth (Betty) Kessel Blair

1913 - 2010

It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth (Betty) Kessel Blair announces her passing on December 30, 2010 at the Williams Lake Seniors Village. Betty was born in North Vancouver on January 25, 1913 and spent the majority of her life as a Cariboo Pioneer. She was predeceased by her husband Ivan Blair, sister Evelyn Stonehouse and brother Howard Allen.

Betty was a caring, generous, and giving lady who will be remembered by her strong love and commitment for her family. After leaving Quesnel and retiring at Tyee Lake, her life with Dad continued to be very full with family living nearby and friends who were warmly welcomed and always encouraged to stay and visit for as long as they could.

Left to mourn Betty are her four children Roy (Eroca) Blair, Marlene (Gerry) Dodge, Elizabeth (Urs) Schupbach, and Claudia (Graham) Blair Smith. Those who knew our parents may remember others who were “adopted” into the family over the years. Mom and Dad’s lives were enriched by those as well and they held their friendship and love very dear. Nana/Great Nan left a legacy of many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as other family throughout the Cariboo, South Cariboo, BC, and the UK.

Thank you to the Williams Lake Seniors Village for all the kindness and consideration given to Mom in her new life at the Village. We all appreciated the special care that nurses, care aids, recreation staff and others gave willingly every day and night to her. There were many “angels” including the Central Cariboo Hospice Society helping Mom make her final journey and we thank you so much.

No service will be held at this time and in lieu of flowers the family would ask that donations be given to a charity of your choice in Betty’s memory.
