With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Eleanor May Zimmer at the age of 91 years. She was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, lived in Williams Lake, BC, retired to Kamloops, BC and then moved to Red Deer, AB to be close to her two children after her husband of 65 years passed away.
She was predeceased by her husband John in 2016, her son Delbert in 1975, and her daughter Pat in 2020.
She is survived by her son, Darrell (Carol) Zimmer of Blackfalds, AB, four grandchildren- Jason Zimmer of Fort St. John, BC and Tina (Jason) Pole of Williams Lake, Jocelyn(Chad) Tricker of Innisfail, AB and Cory( Patty) Tricker of Caroline, AB as well as 11 great grandchildren.
She has two surviving siblings Judy (Brian) New of Ashmont ,AB and Marilyn (Siegmund) Baklarz of Burbank, CA.
Eleanor worked at the Williams Lake Hospital from 1966-1995. She was in charge of the laundry and housekeeping department, always checking every detail with her white glove. She received awards for the cleanest hospital in BC and was very proud of her accomplishments.
Eleanor was laid to rest with a graveside memorial on Feb. 9 at The Hillside Cemetery in Kamloops, BC. with family in attendance.
