In loving memory ~

Dr Peter Alan Gooch, a dedicated, dignified and kind man passed away on September 4, 2024

Peter was born in Cape Town South Africa where he graduated from medical school in 1975. He completed his anesthesiology in England and emigrated to Canada arriving in Prince Rupert in 1981. Peter was a GP/Anesthesiologist in Williams Lake for a 17 year tenure prior to moving to Vancouver Island in 2001. He completed his anesthesiology career at Cowichan District Hospital.

Peter was an accomplished Blues piano player. It brought him such joy to get together and gig/jam with fellow musicians over the years in Williams lake and on Vancouver Island. Music was his passion, as was his motorcycling and time spent in the garden. He was never without a good book in hand! He enjoyed travelling the world and especially the return trips to Cape Town to reconnect with family and have a real Braii!

Following retirement he took great pleasure in time spent at the Bridge Lake cabin out on 'the Barge'.

We express sincere gratitude to Dr Stephen Nantel (& Marilyn) at VGH Dept. of Hematology whose unwavering dedication and expertise led us through the arduous journey with dignity. They enabled Peter to have an extended quality of life.

To the VIHA home support worker team, home care nursing and Paul PT, you all rock! Finally, to the wonderful employees of Home Instead Nanaimo and his dear friends at Longlake Chateau we are eternally thankful for all your tender loving care.

Peter is survived by his devoted wife Catherine. He was the proud father of Simon, Samantha & Natasha along with step daughter Taryn. He loved them all with unwavering loyalty.

He enjoyed his beautiful grandchildren Hailey, Quinn and Olivia whom he adored. Peter is also survived by his sister Susan in Cape Town and brother Kenneth in England as well as beloved nieces and nephews.

There will be no service at Peter's request. In lieu of flowers or celebrations you may consider a donation to Clements Centre Society that was near and dear to his heart. (Clementscentre.org)
