Jim was born in Lashburn, Saskatchewan, and spent his early life on the R.X. Wilcox Ranch in Salmon Arm.
He studied at UBC and graduated with a B.Sc. in 1952.
Jim started his 35-year career with the Department of Highways in Trout Lake, where he met Sherry. They married in Revelstoke in 1960, and the following year moved to Williams Lake where they raised their family. They lived in Williams Lake for over 50 years and loved the Cariboo country.
Jim was passionate about his stamp collecting, and enjoyed rockhounding, astronomy, camping, and travelling.
During his retirement, he volunteered with BC Hospice and BC Diabetes.
In 2014, Jim and Sherry moved to Chilliwack to be closer to family. Jim is fondly remembered by Sherry, his wife of 60 years, son Wesley (Fiona), daughter Pam (Walter), as well as many nieces and nephews.
