September 27, 1926 - September 11, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dieter Kellinghusen on September 11th in Kamloops B.C. Dieter passed peacefully with his loving wife and daughter by his side.
Dieter is survived by his wife Ilse, daughter Ingried, son Juergen (Colleen), his 5 grandchildren, David (Adriana), Brian (Sarah), Martin (Kim), Olivia and Alexis, and his two beautiful great-granddaughters Maya and Rowen.
Dieter and Ilse met in school in Germany and continued their journey together, moving to South Africa where they were married in 1954. They welcomed their daughter Ingried in 1955 and soon after immigrated to Canada in 1959. Their son Juergen was born in 1961 in Williams Lake B.C.
Alexis Creek was home to Dieter and Ilse for 34 years where they managed the C1 Ranch and raised their children. Many happy memories and long term friendships were forged with numerous ranching families in the Chilcotin during that time.
Dieter had many passions and hobbies but his favorite by far was flying. After receiving his pilot's license in 1965, Dieter could often be seen flying his Piper Cub over the ranch, keeping an eye on the cattle and making sure none of them strayed from the herd. Riders on the range often had a roll of toilet paper hurled at them from Dieter above with instructions on where a few missing cattle could be found.
Dieter and Ilse finally retired in 1993 and moved to their little piece of Paradise at Russet Bluff Estates in Williams Lake. Their good friends Bill and Edna lived only 3 houses away.
After selling their home In Williams Lake in 2019, Dieter and Ilse moved to Kamloops to be closer to family, moving in with their Grandson and being visited frequently by their great granddaughters who lived next door.
Dieter requested that no service be held and his ashes will be spread at a later date on the Range of the C1 Ranch.
