On Thursday September 9, 2021, Dale Donahue, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at the age of 79 at home surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer.
Dale was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan to Gordon and Edna Cornish and grew up with younger brothers Larry and Robert. On September 20, 1961, she married Earl and they farmed in the Biggar area, soon welcoming son's Ross and Jordan.
In 1977, the family made the decision to sell the farm and move west to the mountains of British Columbia, purchasing a ranch in the Anahim Lake area. Earl and Dale welcomed their daughter Cheryl in 1981. Many adventures were had, friends and memories made in the west Chilcotin before settling in Williams Lake in 1987.
Dale spent the next 20 years working as a long-term care aide in home support and at the Cariboo Lodge and Deni House.
In retirement, Dale got to spend her time doing what she loved - gardening, baking and canning, knitting, sewing, weaving, and spending time with family. Dale volunteered with the Canadian Red Cross and enjoyed the time and friendships she built through her time with the WL Spinners and Weavers.
Dale was a proud grandma to 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and enjoyed their visits, phone calls and emails. Dale's kind heart, down to earth attitude and sense of humor will be so missed but shows up daily through her children and grandchildren.
There will be no service upon Dale's request. The family is so appreciative of the support they and Dale received in recent weeks from the Home and Community Care Nurses (Jennifer, Janelle & Alison), Drs Engelbrecht and Labossiere, and WL Hospice Society as well as the many family and friends who showed their love through visits, phone calls, and delicious food. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to WL Hospice Society.
