December 23, 1965 - November 21, 2019
Chris Durfeld, known to many as Stoffi, died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 21, while working in Quesnel, BC.
A loving husband, father, son-in-law, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, Stoffi will be remembered for his love, affection and tireless effort to care for his family.
Stoffi was born December 23, 1965 in Williams Lake, BC to Wolfgang and Christiane Durfeld. The youngest of eight children, Stoffi was spoiled or rather, well-loved. He grew up in a home filled with beautiful family traditions, many of which he continued in his own family. He spent his childhood exploring the natural world, bird-watching, playing and watching hockey, learning many skills and trades from his siblings and parents, and eating the most delicious foods. He left his family home well-prepared for life.
On July 22, 1995, Stoffi married Angela and together they created a beautiful family of five children - Maria, Emilia, Francesca, Alessandro and Carmel. His love for his family was constant. He was a father, or Papa, of immeasurable faith, love, patience and humour! He took his time to share his love of the outdoors with his family, whether skiing, biking and hiking or simply resting in the beauty of nature.
Most adventures included a cherished family dog which for the last ten years was Niki. He taught his family to appreciate the tiniest insect to the grandest mountain peak. His love and guidance will be sorely missed.
He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Rudi (Cathie), Elisabeth, Matheo (Heather), Ricci (Liz), Rupi (Trenisa), parents-in-law, Ron and Marion Tomm, brother-in-law, Ron (Angie), sister-in-law, Jennifer, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who all adored and greatly respected Stoffi.
He will be greatly missed by many friends from afar and those closer to home.He was predeceased by his parents Wolfgang and Christiane Durfeld, sister Tina (Henning), brother Benno and brother- in-law Samuel. Vigil prayers will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Vernon at 7pm, on Friday, December 6th, 2019.
