Charlotte Bell

August 19, 2004

Charlotte McConnell (Allan) Bell, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away suddenly on August 19, 2004 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver.

She will be lovingly remembered by both family and friends. Charlotte was born September 2, 1938 in East Wemyss Fife, Scotland, and married Bill Bell in December of 1957. The couple immigrated to Canada in 1966.

Charlotte and Bill owned and operated the Big Scoop Restaurant in Williams Lake for 14 years. After selling the Big Scoop, Charlotte worked at the Williams Lake Association for Community Living Summit Workshop until she and Bill relocated to North Vancouver to be closer to their grandchildren. Bill and Charlotte loved to spend their time off soaking up the sun and enjoying the ocean view from their vacation home at White Rock.

Upon retirement, Charlotte and Bill moved back to the Cariboo, making 150 Mile House their home once again.

Charlotte leaves behind her husband Bill, their children Karen and Derek Nelsen of North Vancouver, George and Michelle Bell of Williams Lake, and Julie Bell and Simon Oliver of Vancouver.

She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Brooklyn and Nels Nelsen, Lane and Troy Bell, and extended family Amber Summerhayes, Steve Corcoran, and their son Tait. Charlotte is also survived by her brother George Allan and his wife Elma, who reside in Scotland.

A gathering for family and friends will be held at the home of Jacquie Beaulieu, 369 North Second Avenue, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2004.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice in Charlotte’s memory.
