Charlie Fawcett, 90, of Williams Lake, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2017 at the WL Seniors Village. He was born in Chilliwack to Eva and Charles Fawcett. Charlie’s father passed away when he was only five years old, becoming the man of the house at this tender age. His mother raised Charlie and his younger sister Louise single handedly. After graduating from Lord Byng High, Charlie spent his early working years in mining, at BC Tel and for the railroad in the Kootenays.

He started his married life with Edith in 1954, moving from Vancouver to Williams Lake while working with the PGE Railway. Later, he spent most of his working life as the Chief Engineer at the Cariboo Memorial Hospital. Here he was able to put his ability to fix most anything to good use.

Charlie was a compassionate man known for his quiet wit and concern for others. Charlie will be remembered for his generosity, his wise and thoughtful advice and his dedication towards the United Church and its members. His belief and support for education was strong and greatly appreciated by many.

Charlie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and

great grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years, Edith, four children, Bill (Minette), Lorraine (John), Fred (Denean), Anita (Jeff), nine grandchildren and great granddaughter, Claire. He was predeceased by his only sister Louise and great granddaughter, Rylan. Charlie will also be greatly missed by his dear friend Stephen Walker.

The family would like to thank the devoted care aides,

nurses and Dr. Ruane for their compassionate care at the

Seniors Village.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 1000 Huckvale Place on Saturday May 13, 2017 at 1:00 pm.
