September 10, 1944 - November 29, 2020
It's with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad at the age of 76, on Nov. 29, 2020. Dad had A brief unexpected illness that took his life in 3 short weeks. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Vernon Hospice House.
Bruce was a husband to Gail (Owens), beloved Father to Jamie Domreis, Darcie Annesley and Trevor Monsen.
Bruce was born on September 10, 1944 to Norman and Minnie (Trusty) Monsen in Whitecourt AB. The family moved from AB to a farm in Falkland BC.
Dad and Mom met at high school in Vernon BC and were married on June 10,1964. They moved many times, living in different logging camps and finally settling in Likely BC.
Dad was a hardworking logger who began his career in the Okanagan, horse logging with his Dad. He worked in the Prince George, and Terrace areas but it was the Cariboo Chilcotin, that he felt most at home and loved. Although, he logged, it's safe to say his heart was in gold mining. He spent many hours washing material and was always excited for the clean-up.
Bruce was predeceased by his wife Gail Monsen (Owens) in 2011, his parents Norman and Minnie (Trusty) Monsen, his brothers Marvin Monsen, Wes Monsen, and Wayne Monsen.
He is survived by his children Jamie and Blair Domreis, Darcie and Dave Annesley, and Trevor and Tyelee Monsen. His grandchildren Jayme Potter (Alysha), Jordan Domreis (Kaitlyn), Tyler Annesley, Alexis Povelofskie (Tyler), Connor Annesley, Mackenzie Domreis (Zach), Curtis Monsen, Miranda Monsen, and Matthew Monsen. Great Grandson Jackson Andrews. He is also survived by his siblings, Elaine (Harold) Redlick , Lyle Monsen, Ken Monsen, Doug (Cindy) Monsen, Christal (Ron) Colebank, Neil (Tammy) Monsen, sisters in-law Janice and Kathy Monsen, and many nieces and nephews that were very close to his heart.
We hope to have a Celebration of Life sometime in 2021 in Likely BC.
