In loving memory ~
A potter extraordinaire and long-time supporter of the arts in the Cariboo, Bev has left us with a rich history of her love of family, friends, and community.
As her daughter Erin said, "she was always fun and never a wallflower. Forever humming or singing a tune just under her breath, she likely didn't know how much joy she brought us".
Survived by her husband Rick of 51 years, also a well-known figure in the community, she leaves her daughter Erin (Paul), son Kyle (Jing), grandchildren, Graham, Phaedra, Dian and Laly, and siblings, Verna, Kevin and Lori.
Born in Penticton, Bev arrived in Williams Lake in 1967 after acing a phone interview with a local hairdressing salon and stayed with that profession until 1977. She took her first classes with the Potter's Guild and began her career with clay in 1978. An accomplished and prolific potter, Bev's pots are treasured in many homes.
Bev was a director of the Station House Gallery Society for more than three decades. Her belief in the importance of arts and culture in the community and her leadership skills ensured the Gallery Society's longevity in Williams Lake. Always a team player, Bev never shied away from the tough jobs. Bev approached every challenge with an ever-present smile and her characteristic sense of humour. She ensured the Station House was a cornerstone of arts and culture through her creativity, dedication, and strong work ethic.
But the Station House was not Bev's only contribution to arts and culture in the Cariboo. She was a member of the Williams Lake Potters' Guild, sat on the Williams Lake Community Arts Council, was a supporter of Communities in Bloom, and a regular participant at the Medieval Market. Bev stepped into executive positions in many local organizations and generously contributed her time and talents wherever she was needed.
A special thanks from the family to her wonderful friend, Cary Burnette and the good people at Deni House.
We will celebrate Bev by remembering her smile and smiling for her at a Celebration of Life at the Station House Gallery on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 2 PM
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations in Bev's memory to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Station House Gallery.
