Betty Whyte

February 14, 2010

Betty Joan Whyte passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 14th in the arms of her husband and daughters. She was born to the late Bill and Marie Sharpe in Revelstoke, B.C. on May 21, 1936. Betty married her husband Norman in 1956. Together they managed Cariboo Home Furnishings and Fox Mountain Ranch. Betty bravely battled cancer for 18 years with both optimism and dignity.

Betty is survived by her husband, Norman, her two daughters: Bev (Archie) of St. Albert, Alberta and Debbie (Ray) of Prince George, B.C., her grandchildren: Christopher, Ashley, Stephanie (Justin), Michelle and Riley, her great-grandson, Austin and her loyal companion, Mr. Puppy.

With respect for Betty’s wishes there will be no service. A special family gathering will be held in the summer when the days are warm and the hay is high. Those wishing to honour Betty’s memory by way of a donation may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary, Alberta, or a charity of one’s choice. The family wishes to thank all those who provided care, support and friendship to Betty.
