June 7, 1932 - May 24, 2023
In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Arthur (Art) Barr. Born on June 7, 1932, Art passed peacefully in the morning of May 24th, 2023, at 90 years young.
Art grew up in Provost Alberta before moving to BC. Art was the Tire Man for Macmillan Bloedel in the 60s at the Franklin River logging camp in the Alberni Valley on Vancouver Island. Art moved to Williams Lake with his wife Helen and their children in the fall of 1973 to run his own business; Clean-a-Way Septic Service. Art drove the 'peanut butter truck' for several years before taking on a new venture in Barr's Well Drilling. Art met many people and made many friends drilling wells all around the Cariboo until he retired. By 'retired' we mean working part time at Del's Propane converting gas engines to propane. He just wasn't the type to sit still.
After he retired for real, Art got to spend more time doing what he really loved - fishing. Spending hours on the lake in a little boat with a good friend drowning worms was a good day indeed.
In his later years Art took up wood turning - so many friends have a bowl, or a mushroom (or two) made by him. He really enjoyed his time in the woodshop turning wood, making coffee tables and little chairs for family and close friends.
Art is survived by six children: Terry Barr (Piera), Rick Scott (Chris), Cathy Gibson (Doug), Trudy Barr, Christy Cook (Colin) and Tracey Barr (Desiray).
Art was Poppa to ten grandchildren: Denver, Dallas, Amy, Dawn, Michelle, Jason, Stacey, Jessie, Taylor, Logan, Shelby, Zane and Devyn and numerous great grandchildren.
His quiet unassuming presence and generous heart will be deeply missed by so many who knew him.
A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
