Andrew “Rhys” Norquay

July 12, 1990 – September 7, 2010

It is with heartfelt sorrow we announce the passing of Rhys Norquay in a tragic motor vehicle accident in Dease Lake, BC. He is survived by his mother Sarah( Mark) Degenhardt, his father Andrew Norquay, sister Danielle (Kyle) Kershaw, stepbrothers Rylan & Marcus Degenhardt, grandparents Doug & Wendy Best and Anna Norquay, many aunts, uncles and cousins too numerous to mention. Rhys also left behind the love of his life Taya Davis-Fedora, with whom he was to share his future.

Rhys was born July 12, 1990 in Williams Lake BC. He lived on a farm at 150 Mile House from his birth until 2004 at which time he moved to Kamloops. Rhys was actively involved in 4-H for many years, showing horses, beef and swine ~ he was always the showman. His next love became mountain biking where he met many of his friends and spent many happy hours on trails all over the province. His latest passions included snowmobiling with his brother-in-law Kyle and his Duramax trucks. Rhys graduated from South Kamloops Secondary School in June of 2007. After graduation, Rhys became a roughneck and driller and took great pride and enjoyment from his occupation.

Rhys had a great love for his family, enjoying a very special relationship with his mother, sister Danielle and later in life with his step-brothers Marcus and Rylan. As Rhys resided with his mother for most of his life, he took great pride in being the self-appointed ‘man of the house’ and took his responsibilities very seriously. He was very happy when his mother married his step-father Mark. He enjoyed special times with his dad Andrew in Horsefly and had many happy memories there on Horsefly Lake.

Rhys will always be lovingly remembered for his extreme generosity, his loyalty, his enthusiasm for life, his gregarious nature and his pride in his occupation. He was loud, boisterous and life was like a hurricane when he was home. We will miss his love, his smile, his wit and his generosity. He remains in our hearts for eternity.

A Celebration of Life will be held to honour Rhys’ memory at 2 pm on Saturday, September 18, 2010, in the Parkside Lounge of the Interior Savings Centre, located at 300 Lorne Street, in Kamloops. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Rhys’ name to Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
