Allison (Sally) Mary Jelley of Williams Lake, passed away November 6, 2011 at the age of 83.
Allison was born January 18, 1928 in Edmonton, AB to Andy and May Menzies. The family moved to Vancouver where Allison met and married Don Jelley in 1947. They lived in Vancouver, Powell River, Whitehorse, Chilliwack, Lake Cowichan finally settling in Williams Lake in 1959.
As a busy working wife and mother, Allison was active in Job’s Daughters, Brownies and Minor Hockey.
Allison was a life member of the Order of The Royal Purple #126, serving as Honored Royal Lady for 2 terms. She was also an active member of the Order of Eastern Star Princess Pine Chapter #67, baking many cakes and cookies for their bazaars and teas.
Every Wednesday you could find her, with other Eastern Star members, making cancer dressings that are given free to cancer patients. Allison also spent many years volunteering her time in the kitchen of the Seniors Centre.
Allison and Don retired and lived at their home at Tyee Lake where she was an avid gardener and Don’s right hand at building their home. She always had the coffee on and willing to help others with their projects.
Allison will be missed by her children: Linda (Dave) Ireland, Val (Dale) Fleming, Rick (Brenda) Jelley, and Laura Jelley (John Flumerfelt); her grandchildren: Dawn (Bradley) Lane, Mike (Carli) Fleming, Corissa (Ben) Jones, Bryan Jelley, Matthew Jelley, Amanda Jelley, Sara Jelley, Megan (Shaun) Matson, and Kyle Flumerfelt; her great grandchildren: Jenna Lane, Alyssa Lane, McKensie Fleming, Blake Matson and #5 due in December; her sisters Audrey Clark, Aileen Randall and brother Allan Menzies.
A Memorial Tea will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the Seniors Activity Centre.
