September 7, 1935 - November 4, 2023

In loving memory ~

Alford Arthur Pelletier, 88, of Williams Lake closed his final flight plan on November 4, 2023.

Al was born in Dawson Creek, BC on September 7, 1935 to Polly Harrison and Arthur Pelletier.

He was a much loved child and spoke fondly of spending time with his mother's extended family in the Wistaria/Burns Lake area where he learned many outdoor skills including fur trapping. He earned the nickname Boy Scout from one of his uncles and inherited his sense of humour from that side of his family.

Al trained for his private pilot's license in 1957 at the Chilliwack Flying Club and started flying fixed wing commercially in 1959 based in Atlin, BC. Al loved flying and the Pelletier family moved to Williams Lake in 1966 after he started a job flying helicopter. Al flew for various companies through out his career which took him all over the province. He eventually began working only locally. In 2000 he retired due to vision loss.

Al had a quick wit and could be counted on to lighten things with a joke. He loved animals, especially dogs and was generous with his time. He liked to be on the go and did some travelling after retiring. He was an avid bread baker and made doughnuts when he was home in the off season. He loved to take people for their first helicopter ride and share their wonder.

Al is survived by his partner, Lois Paterson; daughters Holly, Carol and Susan; sons-in-law Gerry Borden and Greg Johnston; grandchildren Steven (Julia), Scott, Jarett, Grace and Duncan; and great-grandchildren Josh and Averie. He was predeceased by his wife Grace in 1995.

Al requested that there be a celebration of life for him. A gathering is planned for April 6, 2024 at the Seniors Centre in Williams Lake at 14:00. Please donate to a charity of your choice in Al's memory if you wish to. Al's family thanks the BC Ambulance Service, Cariboo Memorial Hospital, MLA Lorne Doerkson and Williams Lake Seniors Village for their help and compassion.
