Woman dies after suffering ‘medical event’ while driving north of Lac la Hache

Initial report was that an older female had driven into the side of a hill and was non-responsive.

A woman has died after a single-vehicle accident just north of Lac la Hache Wednesday.

100 Mile House RCMP and Central Cariboo Traffic Services said in a statement that emergency crews received reports of the crash just after 8 a.m., near Begg Road along Highway 97.

Several emergency crews – including BC Ambulance, 100 Mile Fire Department and Lac La Hache Volunteer Fire Department attended.

According to witnesses and investigators, it’s believed the woman suffered from a medical event, causing her vehicle to cross the highway when exiting the residential area before crashing.

The woman was taken to 100 Mile Hospital for further treatment, where she lated died.

Police said the woman’s family has been notified.
