WLCBIA president resigns from post

Susan Benton has resigned as president of the Williams Lake Central Business Improvement Area Association.

Susan Benton has resigned as president of the Williams Lake Central Business Improvement Area Association.

The association made the announcement yesterday.

Sheila Mortensen, the vice-president, will take over the presidency until the association’s next annual general meeting to be held in January. Benton had been in the position since January.

In a press release, Benton called the decision “difficult.”

She cited her commitment to Curves that made the continuation of her presidency a challenge.

Judy O’Neill, association executive director, noted Benton had been a board member and will continue as a member of the association and pointed to contributions Benton made during her time as president.

“Sue was very helpful in putting on Street Party which was a vast amount of work,” said O’Neill, noting that the work doesn’t end there and continues with Art Walk and Winter Lights festivities.

“It’s a lot of ongoing work. You’re always doing something.”

Mortensen is a long-term board member and two-time vice-president.
