A serious assault sent one man to hospital Sunday night in the lakecity.

RCMP Insp. Jeff Pelley, OIC of the Williams Lake detachment, confirmed police were called just after 6 p.m. to the Windmill Crescent area Sunday, March 8.

The victim was transported to hospital by Emergency Health Services, where he was treated and later released.

Pelley said, initially, police thought the suspect in the assault was unknown to the victim, however, through the investigation it was determined not to be the case. He said the victim and suspect were known to each other.

Three police vehicles were parked outside the home, located at the corner of Lakeview Crescent and Windmill Crescent, Monday night as officers continued their investigation.

Residents in the area told the Tribune police were going door-to-door as part of their investigation, asking questions and telling neighbours a serious assault had occurred.

Pelley noted Tuesday that there is no risk to the public in relation to this case, and the investigation is ongoing.
