Williams Lake RCMP plan charity golf tournament

Williams Lake RCMP are looking to assist non-profit groups with the proceeds from their upcoming RCMP Charity Golf Tournament this summer.

Williams Lake RCMP are looking to assist a local non-profit group or groups with the proceeds from their upcoming RCMP Charity Golf Tournament this summer.

After taking a hiatus from the annual tournament last year, organizer Sgt. Mike Hacker said officers and detachment staff are looking forward to hitting the greens again.

“All the money raised goes to a good cause and it’s a great community event for us,” Hacker said. “It’s a lot of fun. Everyone who participates in the tournament leaves with a gift or prize of some kind.”

The cost to enter the tournament is $100 and includes golf and dinner.

Hacker is also looking for a local charity that has a focus on youth to be the recipient of any funds raised from the tournament.

“All the money stays here locally and (the charity) has to have a local flavor.”

Anyone wanting to register for the August tournament can contact the pro shop at the Williams Lake Golf and Tennis Club for more information.

Local groups hoping to benefit from the event can contact Sgt. Hacker at 250-392-8705.
