The Williams Lake RCMP responded to approximately 80 calls for service between Feb. 9 and Feb. 12 including suspicious occurrences and people, assaults and breaches.
Feb. 9
A truck driven by a man en route from Fort St. John to Vernon collided with and killed a moose in the 147 Mile area. The driver received no injuries but his truck sustained extensive damage to the front.
Feb. 11
At 10:35 a.m. police were notified that a vehicle was broken into between 11:30 p.m. and 6:40 a.m. on Lakeview Avenue. A new turquoise yoga mat and insurance papers were stolen. Footprints of the suspect leaving the driveway were seen. The matter is still under investigation.
Boitanio mall contacted the RCMP at 2:09 p.m. reporting that over the last two evenings two unknown males had been showing up at the upper level parking lot and throwing old televisions two stories to smash down on the pavement below.
Video surveillance suggests the suspects were driving a black four-door Volkswagen.
There has been no property damage, however there has been lots of glass to clean up.
Feb 12
At 8:36 a.m. police responded to a report of a break-in to a shed on Larch Street that occurred sometime between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Some items were removed from the shed and were seized by police for further investigation. At this time no suspects have been identified and the matter is still under investigation.
Graffiti was discovered on Feb. 10 and Feb. 12. The first incident occurred at a residence on Borland Street overnight on Feb. 10. Someone had spray painted on the side of a residence, commercial building and the concrete driveway.
While on patrol at 6:10 a.m. on Feb. 12, police discovered scribbles and designs, as well as a swastika, on the side of TD Canada Trust Bank on 2nd Avenue North. The Village Square building on 1st Avenue North, was also victimized by graffiti.
The matters are still under investigation.
Three road checks were conducted in various locations in the area checking approximately 75 vehicles in total for liquor and motor vehicle act infractions.
