The Williams Lake RCMP have arrested two prolific offenders this week.

Lane Don Cooper, 21, wanted on multi jurisdictional warrants remains in custody after he was arrested by the Williams Lake RCMP on Thursday, June 22 at 10 p.m.

His arrest occurred after members of the Cariboo Crime Reduction Unit received information that he had been staying at a residence in the area of Second Avenue North in Williams Lake, said Const. Andrew Waters, Cariboo Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit Friday.

Members from the Cariboo Crime Reduction Unit were assisted by members from the General Investigation Section and General Duty in making the arrest, Waters added.

”Cooper was wanted on eight outstanding warrants for a number of offences which included possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, driving while disqualified, fail to appear in court, fail to comply with recognizance, fail to comply with probation order and eight counts of fail to comply with an undertaking,” Waters said.

Kurtis Billy was the second prolific offender arrested this week, confirmed Williams Lake Inspector Jeff Pelley Friday.

“Earlier this week we arrested Kurtis Billy on a no-go Williams Lake order,” Pelley said. “He was spotted within the municipality and fled from an officer who was on patrol. He was later apprehended in a local business.”

Billy was charged with breaching his condition and appeared in Williams Lake Provincial Court on June 21.

According to court documents, Billy received a 20-day jail sentence and a $100 victim surcharge.

Waters said the Williams Lake RCMP remain committed to targeting prolific offenders within the community and anyone with information about criminal activity, is asked to please contact the Williams Lake RCMP at 250-392-6211 or, should they wish to remain anonymous to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
