Williams Lake man faces charges after home invasion in Agassiz

Brendan Fediuk, 37, of Williams Lake faces a charge of forcible entry to a residence and mischief under $5,000.

Brendan Fediuk, 37, of Williams Lake faces a charge of forcible entry to a residence and a charge of mischief under $5,000 after being arrested by RCMP in Agassiz earlier this month.

The charges stem from a police investigation initiated on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, when at approximately 10 a.m. the RCMP received a report from a homeowner that a man was allegedly breaking into her residence in the 14,500 block of Morris Valley Road in Agassiz.

When challenged by the homeowner, the male rode away on a bicycle, the police said.

Immediately police responded to the address where the victim and witnesses provided a description of the suspect to the general duty investigator.

Fediuk was quickly located and arrested by a patrolling officer.

Investigators supported by the Integrated Forensic Investigation Section continue to examine evidence gathered from the scene, while Victim Services is engaged with the victim, the RCMP said.

“Alert witnesses who did not hesitate to become involved are credited by police in the apprehension of the suspect,” said Cpl. Mike Rail, media relations officer with the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment.

Fediuk has been released from custody pending a court appearance in late October.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Agassiz RCMP at 604-796-2211 or, should they wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
