Williams Lake hires temporary chief administrative officer

Mayor Walt Cobb confirmed Thursday the City has hired a temporary chief administrative officer until a full-time person fills the position.

Williams Lake has hired a temporary chief administrative officer to work part-time until a new one is hired, Mayor Walt Cobb confirmed Thursday.

"Wayne Thiessen worked here years ago as a former administrator," said Cobb. "He is going to work two or three days a week, depending on the work load. He starts July 11."

Part of Thiessen's job will be to help the City recruit a new CAO to replace Darrell Garceau who resigned on Feb. 1 of this year, Cobb added.

"We have had applicants, but we feel we need someone with experience to fill the position. It is tough because there are eight or nine communities looking for CAOs. We aren't the only ones."
