Update: RCMP arrest male in connection the rash of thefts

RCMP arrest male in connection to recent rash of thefts from businesses in Williams Lake.

A 25-year-old male from Williams Lake was arrested on Feb. 28. by the Williams Lake RCMP after a recent rash of thefts.

The male was charged with eight counts of theft under $5,000 relating to the recent rash of thefts from businesses in the Williams Lake, the RCMP said in a press release.

The male was remanded until March 3 for an appearance at Williams Lake courthouse. The file is still under investigation and further charges are expected.

On Friday RCMP said they were on the look-out for a gentleman robber hitting businesses in Williams Lake.

Police are requesting the assistance of the public in attempting to locate a suspect described as a white male, mid 20s, approximately six feet tall, medium build, light colored hair and ‘goatee’ and is traveling in a grey/silver Chevrolet / GMC extended pick truck in the Williams Lake area.

The suspect is actively going into businesses asking for cigarettes and other merchandise, then when the business owner produces the items, the suspect grabs the items and runs from the store shouting that he is ‘sorry.'
