Update: Missing hunter located

A hunter reported missing in the Spanish Lake area near Likely has been found, RCMP confirmed.

Overdue Hunter located in good condition

"As the experts say, if you get lost, stay put, do not continue to wander around," said the RCMP as they announced a missing hunter was located safe and sound near Likely. "That is exactly what this gentleman did and was located by Search and Rescue around 10:30 this morning after spending the night in the woods,"

Original story:

The search continues for a missing 74-year-old hunter in the Spanish Lake area east of Likely.

According to RCMP, at 6:02 p.m. Monday the Williams Lake RCMP received a report the man was missing.

"A hunting group of three persons split up and were to meet up later in the day," said Cpl. Dave Tyreman, media relations. "A 74 year old Lower Mainland resident who is experienced in the outdoors failed to reunite with his party."

The Central Cariboo Search and Rescue was deployed to the area at 8 p.m. along with members of the South Cariboo Search and Rescue.

The search extended into the early hours of the morning and resumed again at first light.

The police are requesting anyone in the area to be on the lookout for anyone who may be by themselves or may seem disoriented.

The search team is adequately staffed so no additional volunteers are required at this time.

More information will be provided should these circumstances change.
