Update:

Original story:

Garbage and recycling pick up has been delayed in Williams Lake due to mechanical issues with the garbage/recycling collection truck.

In a notice issued Wednesday by the city, however, residents are being asked to leave their garbage and recycling on the curb until it is collected.

Manager of Utilities and Fleet Joe Engelberts said the truck began having problems on Monday morning.

"Central Cariboo Disposal brought their backup truck on line, but it's not as fast as the newer one that broke down," Engelberts said Wednesday. "They have fallen behind but are telling me they hope to have everything from yesterday and today picked up by tonight."
