Update: Fatal MVI west of Williams Lake

There has been a fatal single motor vehicle incident 19 kilometres west of Williams Lake.

RCMP continued to investigate the scene late Tuesday

Police continue to investigate a single motor vehicle incident 19 kilometres west of Williams Lake on Tuesday, May 14, along Highway 20, that claimed the life of one female driver from the Nemiah area.

A female passenger was sent to hospital with injuries, while a third passenger, a small child, was uninjured.

The RCMP Cariboo Chilcotin Traffic Services said in a press release issued late Tuesday afternoon the incident occurred at approximately 11:45 a.m. An east bound vehicle left the roadway, drove into the south side ditch, overturned and hit a tree.

Police were on the scene at approximately 12:52 p.m.

The coroner was on the scene along with the traffic analyst.

"Alcohol and drugs are not being considered as factors in this incident," the RCMP press release stated.

Police continued to to complete the accident investigation for several hours into the early evening and said at this time police have no witnesses to the incident and ask if anyone has information to please contact Williams Lake RCMP at 250-392-6211.
