Thompson Rivers University celebrates Human Service Week next week with free presentations by students, faculty and professional partners.
Activities start Tuesday, April 12 with the first-year student presentations on projects they have participated in with agencies in the community, in Room 1307 from 1 to 3 p.m.
The evening event from 7 to 8 p.m. in Room 1307 provides information on the Human Service programs, career opportunities in the helping professions and opportunities to ladder to other professional degrees.
Wednesday, April 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Room 1303 the topic is child and youth care.
Wednesday evening there will be a presentation on the 21st Century Learning Initiative and the student work with Marie Sharpe elementary for its experiential learning initiative, in the TRU library from 7 to 8 p.m.
Thursday, April 14 the film A Spiritual Land Claim will be showing in the Gathering Place from 1 to 4 p.m. RSVP to Rhonda Johnson at 250-392-8009.
Thursday evening there will be presentation in the TRU library from 7 to 9 p.m. on Introducing 1-Minds a Drug and Alcohol Awareness and Prevention program developed by the Centre for Addictions Research. Friday, April 15 the free activities wrap up with Songs for a Better World from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. (tentatively in the cafeteria).
