A travel advisory has been issued as snow continues to fall in the Cariboo as seen here Friday morning in Williams Lake.

Drive BC has issued a travel advisory for Highway 97 due to heavy snowfall from 20 kilometers north of Lac La Hache to West Kragback Road north of Williams Lake (67.8 km).

Travel is not recommended due to extreme snowfall.

Since the snow started to fall Thursday evening at least six inches of snow has fallen in the downtown core of Williams Lake, more in other areas.

School buses did not run Friday, and while schools remained open, it was an early start to the Christmas holiday for local students.
