UPDATE: Travel advisory for Highway 97 north of Williams Lake lifted; slippery sections reported

UPDATE, Jan. 3:

The travel advisory for Highway 97 has been lifted, but Drive B.C. is reporting slippery sections due to rain on compact snow between Alexandria (south of Quesnel) and Olson Road (25 kilometres south of Hixon).

ORIGINAL, Jan. 2:

Drive B.C. has issued a travel advisory for a section of Highway 97 between Williams Lake and Prince George Jan. 2.

The advisory affects both north and southbound lanes between Lynes Creek Road north of Wildwood and Chamulak Road near Stoner. (10 kilometres north of Wildwood to 21 kilometres south of Pineview).

Drive B.C. is reporting slippery sections and limited visibility due to heavy snowfall, and is advising motorists not to travel unless necessary.

Environment Canada is predicting snow mixed with rain for the Quesnel area for tonight, with a low of zero degrees Celsius.
