Trash Talk open house on Tuesday in WL

The Cariboo Regional Trash Talk open houses begin next week.

The Cariboo Regional Trash Talk open houses begin next week.

The first will be held in Williams Lake on Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the CRD board room.

Twelve other meetings will be held in different areas of the region.

The open houses are to allow residents to learn more and have their say about proposed options for future recycling and composting programs, as well as improvements to transfer stations and landfills. The open houses are part of the CRD’s process to update the region’s solid waste management plan, as required by the Ministry of Environment.

The proposed options were developed with the input and guidance of the Solid Waste Advisory Committee made up of residents, community groups, businesses, local government, First Nations and Ministry of Environment representatives.

Close to 900 residents responded to a survey last spring, providing the CRD information about preferences for various programs.

The next step is to present the proposed options for feedback at the 13 open houses.
