Thieves target Westridge subdivision

Homes in the Westridge subdivision were robbed in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Homes in the Westridge subdivision were robbed in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood and observed a suspect in a vehicle that was loaded with apparent stolen property and weapons, Staff Sgt. Warren Brown said Wednesday.

“The suspect was promptly arrested for possession of stolen property,” Brown said.

The property is believed to be from vehicles, sheds and carports in the area.

The police believe the suspect, who is not from Williams Lake, did not act alone.“The adult suspect is not from Williams Lake, however, does frequent the community periodically. He is well known to the police and will be held for a court appearance later in the day where thefts and other related charges will be proposed,” Brown said.

The investigation is ongoing and police request the public’s assistance for any additional information.  If members of the public who live in the area are missing property they are asked to contact the RCMP at 250-392-6211. The RCMP will attempt to locate owners of the recovered stolen property.
