TELUS to invest $7 million in Williams Lake

TELUS will invest $7 million in new infrastructure and facilities in Williams Lake this year to connect more homes and businesses.

TELUS will invest $7 million in new infrastructure and facilities in Williams Lake this year to connect more homes and businesses directly to TELUS’ gigabit-enabled fibre optic network; increase wireless capacity to meet growing demand, and to improve the reach, speed and capacity of TELUS’ high-speed Internet service.

The investment is part of TELUS’ commitment to invest $4.5 billion in B.C. through 2019 to extend fibre optic infrastructure directly to thousands of homes and businesses in rural and urban communities, further strengthen wireless service, and support key services including healthcare and education with new technologies.

“Our massive fibre optic network build in Williams Lake is moving along according to plan, as we are connecting more and more homes and businesses directly to TELUS Fibre,” said Lance MacDonald, TELUS general manager for Northern British Columbia.

“This year’s $7 million investment builds upon work we’ve done in years past to bring the most advanced communications services to residents and businesses in Williams Lake, and ultimately has laid the communications backbone for Williams Lake to thrive now and for generations to come.”
