The Cariboo Regional District’s Area J is one of the most contested areas during this November’s municipal election campaign.
Ted Hlokoff joins two other candidates in seeking the directorship of the area.
Hlokoff says he decided to run for the position as he felt taking action is more proactive than complaining.
“I think I could do a good job,” he says.
“To me it’s like I have the time so I’ll do it and see what I can do.”
He says in the area there are concerns about taxation and the expansion of the airport that was supposed to occur this year but was postponed due to wet weather.
He would like to see improved communication between the CRD and residents.
“It would be nice to know what they are doing as compared to not knowing anything,” he says.
Developing tourism opportunities is another of Hlokoff’s intentions.
“I”m not saying I can do everything but what I can do is look at everything that’s dealt with and work hard to make it better.”
Hlokoff lives at Nimpo Lake and owns the Anahim Lake Trading Store in Anahim Lake.
