Anyone in the Cariboo hoping to get outside this Sunday, Jan. 20 should be in for a treat.
Environment Canada is forecasting sunny skies until Tuesday, Jan. 22, turning to clouds and periods of snow.
For today, highs of -1C are expected, with clear skies and sunshine throughout the day, while Monday’s high is forecast at -2C, with above 0C highs predicted throughout the remainder of the week.

The coldest day on record for Jan. 20 was in 1996, when temperatures plummeted to -33.4C. The highest recorded temperature was in 1968 at 12.8C.

DriveBC is cautioning motorists to watch for compact snow and slippery sections on both Highways 20 and 97, however, no major alerts are currently in effect.
Central Cariboo Search and Rescue, meanwhile, were busy early Sunday morning after being called to a motor vehicle incident near the Sheep Creek Bridge at 4:30 a.m.
“We arrived on scene with the RCMP and [Emergency Health Services,” said CCSAR Chief Rick White.
“The vehicle went over an embankment and rolled over.”
White said there were no occupants in or around the vehicle upon investigation.
“We cleared the scene and returned to the hall,” he said.
