Stswecem'c Xgat'tem incumbent Chief Patrick Harry was re-elected June 8.

The Northern Shuswap Tribal Council (NSTC) is congratulating incumbent chief and five councillors of Stswecem'c/Xgat'tem First Nation (Canoe Creek/Dog Creek) on their recent re-election.

Re-elected to serve four-year terms are: Chief Patrick Harry and councillors Eric Archie, Catlin Duncan, Marie Camille, Harold Duncan and Loretta Billy.

"We congratulate Chief Patrick Harry and the councillors of Stswecem'c Xgat'tem First Nation on their successful re-election on June 8," said Donna Dixon, chairperson of the NSTC's board of directors.

"Having them in office for another four-year term will serve to improve upon and enhance the unique needs and interests that all members of the community share.

"Moving forward, the community will also benefit from the perspective of the continuity and experience council provides, helping to guide their nation as it prepares to enter the final negotiation stage of the BC Treaty process.

"It is also important to recognize and congratulate every one of the aspiring candidates who sought to represent the citizens of their Stswecem'c Xgat'tem community."
