Individuals who travel the South Lakeside Drive corridor will soon see changes and improvements.
On Tuesday council approved what will be the beginning of the project to widen the road.
Council awarded the engineering design to TRUE Consulting Group for approximately $19,000.
The widening is to be included in the City’s 2012 capital works. The road improvements are proposed to include extending the taper lane from its current location near Hodgson Road to Pioneer Drive and includes the addition of a mixed-use pedestrian/bike path along the north side of South Lakeside Drive, from Hodgson Road to Pioneer Drive. The mixed-use path would be separated from the road and provide a bike/pedestrian link to commercial and residential areas along the road.
The City says the widening of South Lakeside has been identified as an important improvement.
