While there are no wildfires burning near Williams Lake, smoke can be seen in the sky.
On Wednesday, the Cariboo Fire Centre said the smoke is likely drifting in from the Red Deer Creek wildfire in the Prince George Fire Centre, approximately 285 kilometres north east of Williams Lake.
"There are other wildfires in the northern fire centres that could also be contributing to the smoke," Cariboo Fire Centre information officer Sandra Wagner said.
The smoky conditions are expected to continue in the Cariboo as smoke drifts from the northwest in the coming days.
Since April 1, the Cariboo Fire Centre has responded to 58 wildfires, of which 40 were human-caused.
While the current fire danger rating in the Williams Lake area is "low - moderate", the Chilcotin area is rated as "high" and is expected to rise given this weekend's forecast for sunny and dry weather.
