Slippery driving conditions in Williams Lake due to black ice

Rain on Tuesday followed by freezing overnight has made the roads slick Wednesday

Roads are slippery in Williams Lake Wednesday morning due to yesterday’s rain and freezing temperatures overnight.

City crews have been out addressing the conditions.

Environment Canada lists a 30 per cent chance of flurries today, but mainly sunny Thursday with highs of 2C and a 40 per cent chance of showers, with a high of 8C for Friday.

Highways leading in and out of Williams Lake are showing winter conditions.

Drive BC notes there is compact snow from in areas between Tatla Lake and Alexis Creek and slippery sections between Alexis Creek and Williams Lake.

There are also slippery sections between Highway 97 and Horsefly Road, and on the Likely Road.

City works is also providing free sidewalk sand for residents again this winter outside the fence at the public works yard on Second Avenue.
