Senior warns of latest scam

A Williams Lake senior is warning fellow citizens about a money scam she encountered this week.

Williams Lake senior Mona Kavanagh is warning seniors about a scam she received in the mail this week."I got a letter from Publishing Clearing House telling me I had won $5,600,000," Kavanagh said.

"It was written by a David Sayers."The letter instructed her to phone one of two telephone numbers within 72 hours to claim her prize, but when she phoned she recognized the voice of the scammer.

"I let him go on for a few minutes and then I hung up and called the Scam Centre," Kavanagh said, adding she hoped other seniors like her wouldn't be duped.The numbers on the letter were 1-866-513-1615 or 1-604-441-2897.
