It is the City’s responsibility to inform the public where parking is prohibited says a Williams Lake senior.
Jeanette Beddington has received two letters and a visit from the bylaw office informing her it is illegal to park on the boulevard outside her home in the 1100 block of Second Avenue North.
Beddington takes in borders that are attending TRU and has developed three parking spaces in her driveway for them.
“I wish the City would put up signs that people cannot park on the boulevard,” she said.
A retired nurse, Beddington moved to Williams Lake from Prince George nine years ago and purchased her home.
Beddington has written a letter to the bylaw office, and copied it to mayor and council, the RCMP liaison officer, and the city’s director of protective services, Des Webster, requesting that signage go up.
“It believe it is unreasonable to expect a female senior citizen to enforce and police unknown vehicles parked illegally,” she wrote.
Webster said Tuesday he was not willing to comment on the letter until he has discussed it with the bylaw office.
